HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of United
4 States Army Sergeant Blake W. Evans, of Rockford, who was
5 killed while serving his country in Iraq on May 25, 2008; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Blake Evans was a 2002 graduate of Guilford High
7 School in Rockford; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Sergeant Blake Evans was serving his second tour
9 of duty in Iraq; he joined the Army in October of 2003 and
10 arrived at Fort Campbell, Kentucky in January of 2004; he was
11 an expert with the M4 assault rifle; he was assigned as an
12 infantryman to Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry
13 Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was decorated with three Army Achievement
15 Medals, an Army Good Conduct Medal, a National Defense Service
16 Medal, as well as many other medals and badges; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Sergeant Blake Evans is remembered as a man who
18 loved serving his country, and liked to share stories of
19 handing out candy to Iraqi children to watch their faces light
20 up; and

1     WHEREAS, Sergeant Blake Evans was a soldier, husband, and
2 father; he leaves behind his mother, Judy Ann Belk; his
3 stepfather, Craig Belk; his father, Kenneth Evans; his wife,
4 Shannon; and his two daughters, Kylee and Adriana; therefore,
5 be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
9 Sergeant Blake Evans; and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Sergeant Blake Evans
11 and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him
12 making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of United States Army Sergeant Blake W.
15 Evans as a symbol of our sympathy.
