HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Coal City Police
4 Chief Dennis Neary on the occasion of his retirement after 35
5 years of dedicated service; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Police Chief Dennis Neary joined the Coal City
7 Police Force in 1972; he was promoted to the position of Chief
8 of Police three years later; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Police Chief Dennis Neary attended classes to
10 become a Certified D.A.R.E. Instructor in 1989; he taught many
11 4th and 5th grade students in the Coal City School District in
12 D.A.R.E. classes, sharing his teaching duties with fellow
13 Officer James Howell; and
 
14     WHEREAS, During his tenure, Police Chief Dennis Neary has
15 been witness to many changes with the department, including
16 expanded facilities, the computerization of the department,
17 growth in the number of staff, and increased police activity in
18 Coal City; despite these changes, the Coal City Police
19 Department has maintained a good rapport with the people, a
20 beneficial component of law enforcement that Chief Neary can
21 certainly take credit for fostering; and

1     WHEREAS, A celebration of Police Chief Dennis Neary's
2 illustrious career will be held on April 25, 2008 at the Coal
3 City Lions Hall in Coal City; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Police Chief Dennis Neary's efficient and
5 approachable demeanor served as a model for the entire Coal
6 City Police Department; his leadership will be dearly missed by
7 both the department and the people of Coal City; therefore, be
8 it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11 congratulate Coal City Police Chief Dennis Neary on the
12 occasion of his retirement and wish him continued success and
13 happiness in the future; and be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to Dennis Neary as an expression of our respect and
16 esteem.
