HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Caitlin Brecklin of Ambassador Girl Scout Troop 804 on the occasion of winning the Gold Award from the Girl Scouts organization; and

WHEREAS, The Gold Award is the highest recognition that a Girl Scout can obtain; the award is equivalent to the rank of Eagle awarded by the Boy Scouts; to earn a Gold Award, a girl must meet several requirements, including leadership projects, career exploration, meeting challenges to learn about herself and the world around her, earning four interest projects, and the completion of a community service project of over 60 hours; and

WHEREAS, For her Gold Award project, Caitlin Brecklin chose to form a "Space Club" where children in 5th to 8th grades could come every other week and do activities, as well as learn more about astronomy and space exploration; and

WHEREAS, Caitlin Brecklin is currently a senior at Northside College Prep in Chicago; she has chosen to pursue a career in astrophysics and has always been fascinated with outer space; she has been accepted to attend Michigan State University in September of 2008; and

WHEREAS, Caitlin Brecklin will be presented with her Gold Award at an official presentation at the First Congregational Church of Forest Glen in Chicago on May 4, 2008; and

WHEREAS, The dedication and effort put forward by Caitlin Brecklin on the behalf of her community serves as an inspiration to the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Caitlin Brecklin of Ambassador Girl Scout Troop 804 on the occasion of winning the Gold Award and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Caitlin Brecklin as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
