HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate William Barney, Principal of Reed School in Will County School District 92, on his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Barney has been a principal in District 92 for 26 years, first at Ludwig Junior High and later at Reed School; and

WHEREAS, He has served for 38 years in public education, as a teacher, as an athletic director, and as a principal; and

WHEREAS, He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Illinois State University, his Master's degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Northern Illinois University, and a Certificate of Advanced Study from Illinois State University; and

WHEREAS, He holds membership in the Illinois Principals Association and the National Association of Elementary School Principals and has been active in both organizations; he received the IPA's Elementary Principal of the Year (National Distinguished Principal) for 2008/2009; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his work as Principal of Reed School, he also taught mathematics at Joliet Junior College for 23 years, and retired in December of 2007; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate William Barney on his retirement and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to William Barney as a symbol of our respect.
