HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Allegra E. Biery,
4 Gloria Santona, Lauren Streicher, Andrea L. Zopp, and the
5 Chicago Foundation for Women on the occasion of being honorees
6 at the Women of Achievement Awards Dinner hosted by the
7 Anti-Defamation League; and
 
8     WHEREAS, The Women of Achievement Awards Dinner is an
9 annual event that honors outstanding women or organizations who
10 make a difference in their communities; the dinner is one of
11 the most prestigious events in the Chicago area and one of the
12 few that is dedicated to the recognition of women; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Allegra E. Biery is a Senior Vice President of the
14 Northern Trust Company in Chicago; she is a Managing Director
15 in Personal Financial Services, a position that makes her
16 responsible for three financial centers throughout Chicago;
17 she also serves as chair of the bank's Emerging Wealth Markets
18 Coalition in Illinois and is the Vice-Chair of their women's
19 initiative, the Women in Leadership Forum; she spearheaded
20 Northern Trust Company's corporate-wide initiative, the
21 VisionKeepers' Forum, which teaches pertinent topics to women
22 business owners to keep their businesses competitive; she sits
23 on the boards of the Chicago Foundation for Women, the Chicago

1 Humanities Festival, the Golden Apple Foundation, Smith
2 College Alumnae Club of Chicago, and the Oak Street Council;
3 she is a member of the steering committee of POWER - Opening
4 Doors for Women, the Chicago Finance Exchange, and the Parkways
5 Foundation; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Gloria Santona is the Chief Legal Officer of
7 McDonald's Corporation, the largest quick service restaurant
8 company worldwide; she has fostered the legal department's
9 diversity efforts and on-going legal services, which has
10 garnered the McDonald's Legal Department many awards for its
11 legal and educational services; she is a director of Aon
12 Corporation, serving on the company's Audit, Governance, and
13 Compliance Committees; she serves on the Boards of the
14 Association of Corporate Council and the Consititutional
15 Rights Foundation of Chicago, and as a trustee of Rush
16 University Medical Center, among many other professional
17 memberships; she has received numerous awards in recognition of
18 her community service; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Lauren Streicher, M.D. is a graduate of the
20 University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago; after an
21 internship in Internal Medicine at Northwestern Memorial
22 Hospital in Chicago, she completed a residency in Obstetrics
23 and Gynocology at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center;
24 she currently works in private practice in Chicago and is on

1 staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital; she is an Assistant
2 Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynocology at
3 Northwestern University's medical school, The Feinberg School
4 of Medicine; she is well known throughout the Chicago area,
5 having appeared on local and national news programs on over 200
6 occasions; she regularly appears in the Chicago Sun-Time with
7 her column, "Ask the Ob-Gyn", and released a book, The
8 Essential Guide to Hysterectomy, in 2004; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Andrea L. Zopp received her bachelor's degree in
10 history and science and her JD degree from Harvard University;
11 she is currently employed as Senior Vice President and Chief
12 Human Resources Officer at the Exelon Corporation, a position
13 that places her in charge of human resouces strategies, work
14 force planning, compensation, employee health issues, and
15 corporate security; she currently serves on the Board of
16 Directors of the Andrew Corporation, a publicly traded
17 international manufacturer and supplier of telecommunications
18 systems, components, and solutions, where she serves on the
19 compensation and nominating and governence committees; she is a
20 member and former president of the Chicago Inn of Court and is
21 active in the American Bar Association, where she served as a
22 member of the Section of Litigation Council; she serves as
23 Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Area Project,
24 a community-based delinquency prevention program; she is a
25 former member of the Board of Managers of the Chicago Bar

1 Association; she is also a member of the Black Women Lawyer's
2 Association, The Chicago Network, and The Economic Club; and
 
3     WHEREAS, The Chicago Foundation for Women, under the
4 direction of Mary F. Morten and Hannah Rosenthal, has led one
5 of the first integrated prevention initiatives in Illinois to
6 address violence against women and girls, titled "What will it
7 take? Building the safest state for women and girls"; the
8 Chicago Foundation for Women will receive a Humanitarian Award
9 in recognition of this powerful and essential initiative; and
 
10     WHEREAS, The efforts of these women are indicative of the
11 great things that a single person, or single organization
12 committed to the same goal, can achieve for the citizens of
13 this State, the nation, and the world at large; therefore, be
14 it
 
15     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
16 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
17 congratulate Allegra E. Biery, Gloria Santona, Lauren
18 Streicher, Andrea L. Zopp, and the Chicago Foundation for Women
19 on the occasion of being honorees at the Women of Achievement
20 Awards Dinner and wish them continued success and happiness in
21 the future; and be it further
 
22     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
