SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Robert E. Peterson on June 8, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Robert E. Peterson was born on April 21, 1925, in Halidayboro to Marion and Flora (Crawford) Peterson; he married Barbara Jean Justice on April 18, 1949 in Carbondale; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II, under the command of General George Patton; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson worked for the United States Postal Service for 31 years; he was a member and deacon of Goreville First Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Robert E. Peterson has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife of 57 years, Barbara; his son, Larry (Terri Whitehead) Peterson; his daughter, Jean Epperley; his grandsons, Mathew, Mark, and Michael Epperley; his brother, Otis Peterson; and his several nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, Robert E. Peterson was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Harold, Albert, and Clyde Peterson; and his sisters, Violet Jopplin and Reba Eaton; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert E. Peterson, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
