SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois wish to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Donald Karl Owens of Naperville, who passed away on June 7, 2006; and

WHEREAS, He was born on May 17, 1924, to Willard Payton and Charlotte (Jeans) Owens of Alton; he was united in marriage on January 18, 1945, to the former Beverly Jane Ramsey in Saint Louis, Missouri, who preceded him in death; he served his country with the United States Army Occupational Forces after World War II in Korea; and

WHEREAS, He and Beverly moved to Naperville in 1960, where they were active members of the First Congregational Church with Beverly serving as church organist for 30 years; he had a long career in credit and finance management, including 14 years with the Hitachi Corporation from which he retired; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Donald Karl Owens has been deeply felt by many, especially by his children, Jane Jacobek, Bonnie Owens, Donald Owens, Susan (Mike) Hanus, Cheryl (Joe) Boland, David Owens, and Joanne (Mike) Boland; his 14 grandchildren; his four great-grandchildren; and his nephews, Robert G. Kemper, Larry O. Kemper, and Rodney Owens; in addition to his wife, he was proceeded in death by his parents, Willard and Charlotte Owens; his daughter, Linda Lee; his son, Gary Michael; and his siblings, Melvin W. Owens, Vernon P. Owens, and Virginia (Owens) Kemper; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald Karl Owens, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
