SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Paul "Jerry" Ellis of Aurora on Saturday, March 11, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ellis was born on January 27, 1931 in Urbana to Carlin and Betty (Minnick) Ellis; his family moved to Aurora when he was five years old; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ellis was a 1949 graduate of West Aurora High School; he graduated with a bachelor's degree in business from Marquette University in 1957; he and his wife, Suzanne (Stare) shared fifty years of marriage; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ellis was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, where he was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska with the United States Coast Guard; he retired from Chicago Metra in 1996 and subsequently worked part-time at Precision Packaging; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ellis was a loyal West Aurora basketball fan; he was inducted into the West Aurora High School Alumni Hall of Fame in 2003 and was a member of the West Aurora Booster Association; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ellis was an active member of Holy Angels Church; he enjoyed camping, vacations in Pensacola, Florida, and traveling with friends of 40 years (the Rinky Dinks); he was blessed with many good friends; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his son, David Paul Ellis, and his parents; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Paul "Jerry" Ellis has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Suzanne; his children, Joan Ellis, John (Mary) Ellis, Paula (Brad) Bonifas, Joel Ellis, and Mary (Tim) Kennedy; his daughter-in-law, Gayle Ellis; his grandchildren, John, Matthew, and David Ellis, Thomas and Claire Kennedy, and Ricky Davis; his brother, Rod (Julie) Ellis; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Paul Ellis, and we extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy for their loss.
