SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with shock and sadness of the untimely death of Siretha
4 La'Jasmine White of Chicago on Saturday, March 11, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Siretha La'Jasmine White, affectionately known as
6 "Nugget", was born on March 13, 1995, to the union of Wilbur
7 White and Siretha Woods-White; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Siretha was a fourth grade honor student at Vernon
9 Johns Community Academy in Chicago; she accepted Christ at a
10 young age; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Nugget was known for her fun-loving smile that
12 would brighten up the room; she was very photogenic and always
13 willing to strike a model-like pose for the camera; and
 
14     WHEREAS, She was a caring little girl who was always
15 willing to share whatever she had with family and friends and
16 always helped her younger siblings with their homework; she
17 worked hard at being a good girl and was a proud honor student;
18 and
 
19     WHEREAS, When she wrote about her hopes and dreams this
20 year, she listed that she dreamed of having a happy life; she
21 wanted to become a nurse; and she wished for her father's
22 health to improve and to excel in school; and
 
23     WHEREAS, The passing of Siretha La'Jasmine White has been
24 deeply felt by many, especially her mother and father, Siretha
25 and Wilbur; her sisters, Santia, Davonna, Mercedes, Vanessa
26 (Minnesota), and Keana; her brothers, Nevens, Hayes, Wilbur
27 III, Noah, Wilbur, Jr., and Laval; her niece, Kaziah; her
28 grandparents, Nettie White (William Mackey), Willie Pointer
29 (Minnie Pointer), Charles Sims, and Pearlie Powell; her sixteen

1 aunts, six uncles, four great aunts, three great uncles, seven
2 god-sisters, two god-brothers, and a host of cousins and
3 friends; she had a great-grandmother and grandmother who
4 preceded her in death, Cassie M. Laird and Edna E. Woods; a
5 great aunt who preceded her in death, Ethel M. Laird; and one
6 very special cousin who also preceded her in death, Teju Small;
7 therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10 Siretha La'Jasmine White, who was taken from this world much
11 too soon, and we extend our sincere condolences to her family,
12 friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
15 sympathy.
