SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Tom Burns Sr. of DeMotte, Indiana and Creal Springs on January 22, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Burns was born June 8, 1939, in West Frankfort, to Irma L. (Boyd) and Charles L. Burns; he was a 1957 graduate of Frankfort Community High School; on December 10, 1981, he married Toni Butkus-Urbano; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Burns was owner and founder of Town and Country Paving since 1982; previously, he was a coal miner; he was a member of DeMotte Christian Church and Lake of Egypt Christian Church in Marion; he was an avid hunter and fisherman, and also co-owner of Burns Goose Club; he loved and cared for his dog, Zerox; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Tom Burns has been deeply felt by many, especially his loving wife, Toni (Butkus-Urbano) Burns; his sons, Hugh T. Burns Jr. and wife, Janet, and Charles "Bob" Burns; his daughters, Anita Austin and Elizabeth "Beth" Morgan; his step-children, Michael Urbano, Renee Hineline and husband, Denis, Carmen Urbano, John Urbano, Rodney Urbano and wife, Cyndi, and Dan Urbano and wife, Judy; his 21 grandchildren; his 4 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Mildred Harkins and husband, Jerry; he was preceded in death by his parents; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Tom Burns Sr., and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
