SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of Mary Ann Stukel, age 66,
4 of Joliet on January 26, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mary Ann served 12 years as Will County Recorder
6 of Deeds, retiring November 30, 2004; she grew up in Joliet's
7 St. Patrick's neighborhood and ran for Recorder of Deeds in
8 1992 and was elected; she remained in office through two more
9 campaigns; and
 
10     WHEREAS, She was a member of Will County Democrats, Irish
11 American Society, Exchange Club, St. Patrick's Womens Club,
12 Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce, Senior Citizens and
13 Slovenian Womens Union of America Branch #20, and she was a
14 U.C.P. Board Member; she was a licensed Will County realtor for
15 25 years and was Realtor of the Year in 1979; she was also an
16 avid shopper, along with being a loyal Cubs and Bulls fan; and
 
17     WHEREAS, She worked very hard to modernize the Recorder's
18 office and make it responsible to the citizens of Will County
19 in a time of unprecedented growth; she implemented new computer
20 technology and took the office into the next millennium; and
 
21     WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents, William
22 and Cecelia Williams, and her sister, Dorothy (George) Lievens;
23 and
 
24     WHEREAS, The passing of Mary Ann Stukel will be felt by all
25 who knew and loved her, especially her loving daughters, Debbie
26 (Paul) Brown, Barb (Bob) Bersano, and Karen (Mike) Smith; her
27 sister, Irene (late, James) Maloney; her grandchildren,
28 Stephanie (Adam) Mellen, Gust Logothetis, Danielle, Mathew,
29 Kody and Allie Omatto, Chandler Brown, Robbie and Lacey
30 Bersano, Zachary Ficarella, and Michael and Jordan Smith; her

1 great-granddaughter, Addyson Mellen; and numerous aunts,
2 uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; therefore, be it
 
3     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5 Mary Ann Stukel and we extend our sincerest condolences to her
6 family, friends, and community; and be it further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
9 sympathy.
