SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of John A. Bakshis of Vernon Hills, formerly of North Chicago, on October 21, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bakshis was born April 10, 1922, in Waukegan and was a 1940 graduate of Waukegan Township High School; and

WHEREAS, He had been a resident of North Chicago for 49 years, retiring to Vernon Hills in 1992; he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II, and retired after many years as a supervisor at OMC in Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Libertyville and a very active member of the Vernon Hills Seniors; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sophia (nee Truskauskas) Bakshis; his wife, Eva; his infant daughter, Mary; and his brother, Anthony; and

WHEREAS, The passing of John A. Bakshis is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his children, Joan (Donald) Dallman, John (Rosemarie) Bakshis Jr., Robert (Maureen) Bakshis, Joseph (Roxann Marshburn) Bakshis, and Edward (Patricia) Bakshis; his 16 grandchildren; his 18 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Valeria Motiaytis; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John A. Bakshis and extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
