SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Barron R. "Mr. Fresh" Rice of Springfield on Wednesday, May 25, 2005; and

WHEREAS, He was born on September 5, 1970, to his proud parents, Roscoe and Irene Rice, in Indianola, Mississippi; he was a 1989 graduate of Gentry High School in Indianola; and

WHEREAS, Following high school, he moved to Springfield and attended Mr. John's Barber College; he founded and was the proud owner of Mr. Fresh Barber and Beauty Salon; and

WHEREAS, At an early age, he was baptized at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Indianola; he was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Fresh was known for his willingness to serve humanity and for the ability to make light of any tense situation with his flair for comic relief; he served as a mentor to his family and friends and was an inspiration to all who knew him; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Barron R. "Mr. Fresh" Rice has been deeply felt by many, especially his mother, Irene Rice; his brothers, Portis "Chop" Rice, Ricky Smith, and Ricky Anderson; his sisters, Fatina Rice, Gloria Shaw, Debra Rice, and Kathryn Rice; his god brother, Brian "Big B" Williams; his special friend, Edward Knox; and his many nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives, and friends; he was preceded in death by his father; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Barron R. "Mr. Fresh" Rice, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our sincere condolences.
