SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of John DeMattei of West Frankfort on May 1, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. DeMattei was born September 23, 1949, in Christopher, to Mike and Mildred (Gallick) DeMattei; and

WHEREAS, He was a graduate of St. John's School in 1963 and FCHS in 1967; and

WHEREAS, He married Martha (Christian) DeMattei April 9, 1983, in West Frankfort; and

WHEREAS, He worked for Old Ben Coal Company for 24 years and also Zeigler Mine 11; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in West Frankfort; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Mike; his father-in-law, Charles Christian; and his brother-in-law, Michael Christian; and

WHEREAS, The passing of John DeMattei is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Martha; his children, Christi, Brandi, Joseph, and Gina; his mother, Mildred DeMattei; his brother, Larry DeMattei; his mother-in-law, Betty Christian; his brother-in-law, Deane Christian, and wife, Damita; his sister-in-law, Mary Snider, and husband, Ronnie; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John DeMattei and extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
