SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of Claudia Washington
4 Thompson, a resident of Oak Park for more than 23 years, on
5 March 29, 2005; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Mrs. Thompson was born February 14, 1938, in Lake
7 Providence, Louisiana; she graduated from Tuskegee Institute
8 in Tuskegee, Alabama, with a degree in food technology; and
 
9     WHEREAS, She was employed at Cook County Hospital and spent
10 her later years working as a supervisor for Community Care in
11 Oak Park until her retirement; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Mrs. Thompson was one of the founding members of
13 APPLE, Black/White Dialogue, and the NAACP Oak Park Chapter;
14 she was dedicated to the mission of the organizations and she
15 was relentless in pursuit of solutions; and
 
16     WHEREAS, She is survived by her daughter, Mecca, and son,
17 Shaun; she was preceded in death by her husband; therefore, be
18 it
 
19     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
20 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21 Claudia Washington Thompson and extend our sincerest
22 condolences to her family, friends, and community; and be it
23 further
 
24     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
25 presented to her family as an expression of our deepest
26 sympathy.
