SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of William Boyd "Bill"
4 Ferrell, III, on March 2, 2005; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on June 22, 1924, in Chicago to
6 William Boyd Ferrell, II, and Pearl Knox Ferrell Dumas; he was
7 baptized in the Catholic Church and was a member of St. Basil's
8 Catholic Church in Vallejo, California; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mr. Ferrell valiantly served his country and
10 received an honorable discharge from the United States Army
11 after being wounded in combat in World War II; and
 
12     WHEREAS, He was a jack-of-all-trades; he worked as an
13 insurance agent, a counselor for AA, as well as a political
14 liaison for the late Mayor Harold Washington; he moved to
15 California in 1979, where he operated a home maintenance
16 business until he retired; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Mr. Ferrell loved the water, boats, and sports; he
18 was a basketball coach for Chicago's Inner City League and an
19 umpire for the ASA in California; he was a member of the Elk's
20 Lodge in California; and
 
21     WHEREAS, The passing of William Boyd "Bill" Ferrell, III,
22 has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife of 45 years,
23 Barbara "Bobbie" Laye Ferrell; his children, William Ferrell,
24 IV, Major (Linda) Ferrell, Jose Ferrell, JéNice (Herman) James,
25 Keith (Stephanie) Ferrell, Ginger Ferrell, and Edgar Ferrell;
26 his fourteen grandchildren; his eleven great-grandchildren;
27 and his many other relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
28     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
29 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1 William Boyd "Bill" Ferrell, III, and we extend our deepest
2 sympathy to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
3 him; and be it further
 
4     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5 presented to his family as an expression of our sincere
6 condolences.
