SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Daniel Washington Powell of Waukegan on March 6, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Powell was born June 29, 1918, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas; and

WHEREAS, He married Rosalie Gross of Waukegan in 1941 and they had three children; and

WHEREAS, He retired from U.S. Steel/Cyclone Fence after 30 years of service; he was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Rufus Mitchell Lodge #107, Shawall Temple #165, and Little Fort Elks Lodge #1359; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Daniel Washington Powell is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Rosalie; his sons, Daniel (Brenda), David, and Bruce; his sister-in-law, Myrtle Ransom; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his nephews and nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Daniel Washington Powell and extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
