    Amends the School Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning before and after school programs.

1     AN ACT concerning education.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section
5 10-22.18b as follows:
 
6     (105 ILCS 5/10-22.18b)  (from Ch. 122, par. 10-22.18b)
7     Sec. 10-22.18b. Before and after school programs. To
8 develop and and maintain before school and after school
9 programs for students in kindergarten through the 6th grade.
10 Such programs may include time for homework, physical exercise,
11 afternoon nutritional snacks and educational offerings which
12 are in addition to those offered during the regular school day.
13 The chief administrator in each district shall be a certified
14 teacher or a person who meets the requirements for supervising
15 a day care center under the Child Care Act of 1969. Individual
16 programs shall be coordinated by certified teachers or by
17 persons who meet the requirements for supervising a day care
18 center under the Child Care Act of 1969. Additional employees
19 who are not so qualified may also be employed for such
20 programs.
21     The schedule of these programs may follow the work calendar
22 of the local community rather than the regular school calendar.
23 Parents or guardians of the participating students shall be
24 responsible for providing transportation for the students to
25 and from the programs. The school board may charge parents of
26 participating students a fee, not to exceed the actual cost of
27 such before and after school programs.
