SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
210 ILCS 45/3-202.05 new

    Amends the Nursing Home Care Act. Provides that no later than one year after the effective date of this amendatory Act, a nursing home must: (1) acquire at least one automated external defibrillator (AED); (2) ensure that the AED is tested and maintained; (3) arrange for training in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and the use of the AED for employees of the nursing home; and (4) ensure that employees of the nursing home comply with certain provisions concerning the use of the AED.

1     AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Nursing Home Care Act is amended by adding
5 Section 3-202.05 as follows:
 
6     (210 ILCS 45/3-202.05 new)
7     Sec. 3-202.05. Automated external defibrillator required.
8 No later than one year after the effective date of this
9 amendatory Act of the 94th General Assembly, a facility must do
10 all of the following:
11         (1) Acquire at least one automated external
12     defibrillator ("AED"), which shall be maintained in a
13     central location within the facility that shall be made
14     known and available to the employees of the facility.
15         (2) Ensure that the AED is tested and maintained in
16     accordance with the Automated External Defibrillator Act,
17     and provide notification to the appropriate first aid,
18     ambulance or rescue squad, or other appropriate emergency
19     medical services provider regarding the AED, the type of
20     AED acquired, and its location in the facility.
21         (3) Arrange for training in cardio-pulmonary
22     resuscitation and the use of the AED for employees of the
23     facility in accordance with the Automated External
24     Defibrillator Act.
25         (4) Ensure that employees of the facility comply with
26     any other rules of the Department concerning the use of the
27     AED.
28     As used in this Section, "automated external
29 defibrillator" has the meaning attributed to that term in the
30 Automated External Defibrillator Act.
