SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

55 ILCS 5/3-5024.1 new

Amends the Counties Code. Provides that a county may allow electronic filing of any instrument normally filed with the office of the Recorder of Deeds. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning local government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section 3-5024.1 as follows:

(55 ILCS 5/3-5024.1 new)

Sec. 3-5024.1. Electronic filing. Each county may determine if, and the extent to which, the recorder will receive an electronic filing of any instrument normally filed with that office. An electronic filing shall have the same force and effect as a filing made on paper in all cases where the county has authorized such electronic filing. Any method of electronic filing must conform with the requirements of this Act.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
