| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, On November 15, 2005, Dr. Richard Garretson of |
| 3 |
| Crossroads Family Medicine in Mt. Vernon was honored with a |
| 4 |
| Rural Physician of Excellence Award by the Illinois Rural |
| 5 |
| Health Association; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The Rural Physician of Excellence Award was |
| 7 |
| created to honor the work of rural physicians in improving the |
| 8 |
| health and well-being of rural residents; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Garretson has demonstrated admirable |
| 10 |
| commitment to rural health care in Illinois; he has practiced |
| 11 |
| in Mt. Vernon for 41 years; he served as Jefferson County |
| 12 |
| Coroner for 20 years; Dr. Garretson is also a volunteer and |
| 13 |
| participant with the Jefferson County Health Department; he is |
| 14 |
| board certified in Emergency Medicine and provides emergency |
| 15 |
| services at a local hospital; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Garretson currently serves 3,000 patients and |
| 17 |
| never turns anyone away who needs services; he will barter for |
| 18 |
| services for those who cannot afford to pay; Dr. Garretson |
| 19 |
| makes house calls for those unable to travel and provides |
| 20 |
| service to the uninsured; Dr. Garretson also helps patients |
| 21 |
| enroll in pharmaceutical support programs; therefore, be it
|
| 22 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 23 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 24 |
| we congratulate Dr. Richard Garretson on receiving a Rural |
| 25 |
| Physician of Excellence Award from the Illinois Rural Health |
| 26 |
| Association and thank him for his many years of distinguished |
| 27 |
| and generous service as an outstanding rural physician; and be |
| 28 |
| it further
|
| 29 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 30 |
| presented to Dr. Richard Garretson as an expression of our |
