HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois wish to honor Alberta "Bertie" Miller for her 25 years of outstanding public service; and

WHEREAS, She was employed by Grant Township as a secretary on March 20, 1971, and in 1979 was appointed Supervisor; she held that position until 1996; and

WHEREAS, In 1979, Bertie started the Christmas baskets for Grant Township and was a recipient in 1992 of the Illinois Home Town Award for her work with the baskets; she delighted in playing Mrs. Claus for numerous events, especially the Fox Lake Chamber of Commerce Christmas party; and

WHEREAS, As Supervisor, she was responsible for the purchase of 41 acres on Molidor Road which is now the home of the Grant Township Administrative Offices and Highway Department, the Fox Lake Fire Protection District, Station #3, and a large area for a park which is enjoyed by the residents of Grant Township; and

WHEREAS, Bertie and Robert Miller were married for many years; together they had six children, Pat (husband Warren) Dahn, Robert E. Miller III, who gave his life for his country in Vietnam on January 31, 1969, Tom (wife Kathy) Miller, Bruce (wife Cindy) Miller, Mike (wife Trish) Miller, and Dan (wife Jeanette) Miller; her grandchildren are Eric (wife Patti) and Mindy Dahl, Michelle Miller, Bridgid, Erin, and Shannon Miller, and Nathan, Lauren and Justin Miller; her great-granddaughter is Amy Dahn; and

WHEREAS, Her accomplishments have earned her the respect and admiration of her friends and neighbors; the citizens of Grand Township are grateful for her service to the community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Bertie Miller for her many years of exceptional service to Grant Township and we extend to her our best wishes for continued health and happiness; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Alberta "Bertie" Miller as an expression of our respect and esteem.
