1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The Conservation Foundation works to promote the
3 protection of open space and natural areas in Kendall County
4 and to restore and maintain its watersheds; and

5     WHEREAS, Kendall County is the fastest growing county in
6 Illinois and the second fastest growing county in the nation;
7 and

8     WHEREAS, Kendall County residents demonstrated their
9 support for open space preservation in a 2002 referendum and in
10 many surveys; and

11     WHEREAS, Through private funding, The Conservation
12 Foundation established "Protect Kendall Now!", an initiative
13 to increase the pace of land preservation in Kendall County
14 through the creation of a unified Open Space and Natural Areas
15 Plan, the launching of a public awareness campaign, and direct
16 contact with local landowners; and

17     WHEREAS, It would be advantageous for The Conservation
18 Foundation to work with Kendall County and all municipalities
19 within Kendall County to meet the objectives of Protect Kendall
20 Now!; therefore, be it

21     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
22 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
23 the Illinois House of Representatives supports the Protect
24 Kendall Now! program and urges The Conservation Foundation,
25 Kendall County, and all municipalities within Kendall County to
26 work together cooperatively to implement this initiative; and
27 be it further

28     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
29 presented to the Chairman of The Conservation Foundation, the

1 chairman of the Kendall County board, and the mayor of each
2 municipality within Kendall County.
