HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, James Paziotopoulos was born on December 16, 1936,
3 in Oak Park; he attended D.S. Wentworth Elementary School,
4 Chicago Public Schools, and Tilden Tech High School in Chicago;
5 in 1960, he earned a B.A. from Roosevelt University in Chicago;
6 and
 
7     WHEREAS, Dr. Paziotopoulos received his doctorate in
8 educational administration and supervision from Loyola
9 University in 1979; he first served as a teacher for six years
10 in the Chicago Public School system before becoming a principal
11 in 1966 at the age of 29; after 30 years as a principal, and
12 opening three schools during that time period, he was appointed
13 Superintendent of Schools for the Oak Lawn-Hometown School
14 District 123 in 1996; and
 
15     WHEREAS, The two suburbs that he serves have approximately
16 80,000 residents who have enrolled almost 3,000 students in
17 seven school buildings; Dr. Paziotopoulos is responsible for
18 400+ employees and a budget of $29,000,000; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Dr. Paziotopoulos' dream for the future of School
20 District 123 will soon become a reality; construction of a new
21 149,000 square foot middle school, to replace McGugan Junior
22 High, began under his watch in the fall of 2003; it had been
23 almost four decades since a new school was built in District
24 123; and
 
25     WHEREAS, Dr. Paziotopoulos married his wife, Ann, in 1963;
26 he plans to retire on April 22, 2005; therefore, be it
 
27     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
28 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
29 we congratulate Dr. James A. Paziotopoulos on the occasion of
30 his retirement as Superintendent of Oak Lawn-Hometown School

1 District 123 after 45 years of service in the field of
2 education; and be it further
 
3     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to Dr. Paziotopoulos as an expression of our respect
5 and esteem and with best wishes for a relaxing retirement.
