HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Eric Lifka, a third grader at St. Rita of Cascia Elementary School, was named the Grade 3 National Handwriting Champion in the National Handwriting Contest, sponsored by Zaner-Bloser Educational Publishers; and

WHEREAS, In order to win the honor, Eric competed against 140,000 other children from all over the country; the award comes with a plaque, a medal, a $500 savings bond, and a Fischer Price Learning System; and

WHEREAS, He also won T-shirts for the entire third-grade class, and in honor of his award, the school celebrated "Hooray for Good Handwriting Day"; and

WHEREAS, The contest has run for 14 years and judges first through eighth students' handwriting on four criteria: legibility, slant, spacing, and size; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Eric Lifka on being named the Grade 3 National Handwriting Champion in the National Handwriting Contest, sponsored by Zaner-Bloser Educational Publishers; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Eric Lifka as an expression of our respect and esteem.
