HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Judge William Joseph Aukstik will retire from the bench after serving as a judge in the Circuit Court of Cook County for 15 years; and

WHEREAS, Judge Aukstik was born to William and Stella Aukstik on August 12, 1946, grew up in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago, and attended De La Salle High School, Loyola University, and DePaul Law School; and

WHEREAS, He passed the Illinois Bar Exam in 1974, practiced law for over 15 years, and was appointed a judge and sworn in on February 1, 1991; and

WHEREAS, Judge Aukstik worked in the 5th District Court House in Bridgeview for 13 years and established himself as a fair, honest, and hardworking judge; while at the 5th District Court House, Judge Aukstik made many close friendships and allies; and

WHEREAS, In addition to serving on the bench, he was President of the De La Salle Alumni Association, De La Salle Board of Directors, and is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors at De La Salle High School; he also sits on the Catholic Lawyer's Guild Board of Directors and has been a member of the Illinois Bar Association since 1974; and

WHEREAS, Judge Aukstik has been married to his loving and beautiful wife, Mary Jo, for 35 years; and

WHEREAS, He and Mary Jo are the proud parents of four beautiful daughters, Nicole, Danielle, Kristin, and Michelle and proud grandparents of two amazing granddaughters, Emily Rose and Audrey Nicole, who have brought their Nana and Papa great joy and adoration; and

WHEREAS, Judge Aukstik has taught his family the invaluable lessons of being loyal and providing for and supporting family in times of need and otherwise; he has instilled in each one of his daughters a remarkable education and work ethic and has proved to be an outstanding Papa to his two granddaughters; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Judge William J. Aukstik on his retirement and extend our sincere thanks for serving as a Circuit Court Judge for 15 years in Cook County and wish him great success in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Judge William J. Aukstik as an expression of our admiration and esteem.
