HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, On Friday, March 11, 2005, a retirement celebration will be held in honor of George Iaccino of Wheaton, who is retiring as assistant business manager of IBEW Local 701; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Iaccino began his career in the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1962 to 1966, when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant E5; and

WHEREAS, Following his discharge, he became an Apprentice Journeyman Wireman in 1967, moving to Journeyman Wireman in 1971 as a member of IBEW Local 701; he worked for Century 21 in Lombard as a Real Estate Broker from 1978 to 1982; and

WHEREAS, In 1983, Mr. Iaccino returned to IBEW Local 701, serving first as Electrical Construction Manager, then as a Business Agent, and finally as Assistant Business Manager until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, He is a member of several community organizations, including the Marine Corps League, the American Legion, and the North Central Illinois Labor Council, where he served as recording secretary; he is a former Political Director of IBEW Local 701 and Director of the Italian American Labor Council; he is also involved in the Peoples Resource Center in Wheaton and Restaurant Critic; and

WHEREAS, During his career with IBEW Local 701, he served in many capacities, including as President of the Social Club for 10 years, as an Executive Board Member from 1986 to 1989, as Local 701 Vice President from 1989 to 1991; he was a delegate to the IBEW International Convention in 1991 and 2001; he was named 2003 Member of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Iaccino was instrumental in the involvement of the DuPage County Building Trades participating as election judges; he has organized several events for the Local for many, many years, including the Old Timers Dinner, Christmas Poinsettias to the Widows, and the Heartland Blood Drives; and

WHEREAS, He is married to Cathy and has five children, Anthony, Kim, Gina, Roz, and Ted; he is the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate George Iaccino on the occasion of his retirement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Iaccino as an expression of our respect and esteem and with best wishes for a relaxing retirement.
