HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, On Friday, March 11, 2005, a retirement
3 celebration will be held in honor of George Iaccino of Wheaton,
4 who is retiring as assistant business manager of IBEW Local
5 701; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Mr. Iaccino began his career in the United States
7 Marine Corps, serving from 1962 to 1966, when he was honorably
8 discharged with the rank of Sergeant E5; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Following his discharge, he became an Apprentice
10 Journeyman Wireman in 1967, moving to Journeyman Wireman in
11 1971 as a member of IBEW Local 701; he worked for Century 21 in
12 Lombard as a Real Estate Broker from 1978 to 1982; and
 
13     WHEREAS, In 1983, Mr. Iaccino returned to IBEW Local 701,
14 serving first as Electrical Construction Manager, then as a
15 Business Agent, and finally as Assistant Business Manager until
16 his retirement; and
 
17     WHEREAS, He is a member of several community organizations,
18 including the Marine Corps League, the American Legion, and the
19 North Central Illinois Labor Council, where he served as
20 recording secretary; he is a former Political Director of IBEW
21 Local 701 and Director of the Italian American Labor Council;
22 he is also involved in the Peoples Resource Center in Wheaton
23 and Restaurant Critic; and
 
24     WHEREAS, During his career with IBEW Local 701, he served
25 in many capacities, including as President of the Social Club
26 for 10 years, as an Executive Board Member from 1986 to 1989,
27 as Local 701 Vice President from 1989 to 1991; he was a
28 delegate to the IBEW International Convention in 1991 and 2001;
29 he was named 2003 Member of the Year; and

1     WHEREAS, Mr. Iaccino was instrumental in the involvement of
2 the DuPage County Building Trades participating as election
3 judges; he has organized several events for the Local for many,
4 many years, including the Old Timers Dinner, Christmas
5 Poinsettias to the Widows, and the Heartland Blood Drives; and
 
6     WHEREAS, He is married to Cathy and has five children,
7 Anthony, Kim, Gina, Roz, and Ted; he is the proud grandfather
8 of nine grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11 we congratulate George Iaccino on the occasion of his
12 retirement; and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to Mr. Iaccino as an expression of our respect and
15 esteem and with best wishes for a relaxing retirement.
