HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor milestones in the lives of citizens of the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Ali Omahen, of Schlarman High School in Danville, Illinois, has been selected as the News-Gazette Volleyball Player of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Ali Omahen thought that playing volleyball meant giving up swimming; but through the advice of her coach and others, she has, in the words of her mother, "gone from a swimmer who plays volleyball to a volleyball player who swims"; and

WHEREAS, Ali became a varsity starter in volleyball her sophomore year and, by her senior year, led the Hilltoppers to a school record for wins (29) and a berth in the Class A Elite Eight; and

WHEREAS, Ali somehow found time to serve as the 2006 homecoming queen at Schlarman High School when she was not on the courts; and

WHEREAS, Ali was the only Class A area athlete with at least 600 assists and 100 kills for the season; though starting as an outside hitter, she has found her place as the team setter; and

WHEREAS, Ali Omahen can thank her coach, Jamison Keummerle, for sticking with her, recruiting her, and seeing her potential; as a result of her hard work, she is receiving scholarship offers from many colleges across the State; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Ali Omahen on being selected the Danville News-Gazette Volleyball Player of the Year and wish her continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ali Omahen.
