| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate the members of |
| 4 |
| the Ivanhoe Congregational Church in Mundelein on the occasion |
| 5 |
| of the 150th anniversary of their church building; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Ivanhoe Congregational Church was founded on |
| 7 |
| February 20, 1838, when 16 persons met in the log cabin home of |
| 8 |
| Alfred Payne; the church was 18 years old before the dream of a |
| 9 |
| permanent meeting house was realized; church services were held |
| 10 |
| in the log cabins of pioneers in Mechanics Grove and in school |
| 11 |
| houses until December 10, 1856, when the present building was |
| 12 |
| dedicated; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, The educational addition to the church building |
| 14 |
| was constructed in 1957, and workers discovered hand-hewn |
| 15 |
| timbers used in the original construction; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Ivanhoe Congregational Church's motto is "19th |
| 17 |
| Century Church, 21st Century Message"; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Members of the congregation will celebrate the |
| 19 |
| 150th anniversary of the dedication of their church building on |
| 20 |
| Sunday, December 10, 2006; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 22 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 23 |
| we congratulate the members of the Ivanhoe Congregational |
| 24 |
| Church on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of their church |
| 25 |
| building; and be it further
|
| 26 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 27 |
| presented to the Ivanhoe Congregational Church as an expression |
| 28 |
| of our esteem and with best wishes for the future.
