| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that the Theta Mu |
| 3 |
| Lambda Charitable Foundation, a not-for-profit entity of Theta |
| 4 |
| Mu Lambda Chapter - Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, is |
| 5 |
| holding its 17th Annual Black & Gold Ball on Saturday, November |
| 6 |
| 18, 2006, in Tinley Park; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, The Black & Gold Ball is held each year to provide |
| 8 |
| education resources and raise scholarship funds for young |
| 9 |
| African-American males to expand their scholastic |
| 10 |
| opportunities; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Alpha Phi Alpha believes in creating resources, |
| 12 |
| leadership skills, and tools for youth to realize their full |
| 13 |
| potential and is dedicated to building a foundation for the |
| 14 |
| educational and personal development of the future leaders of |
| 15 |
| this great nation; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, The goal of the organization is to increase |
| 17 |
| scholarship initiatives and expand the scope of existing |
| 18 |
| programs to more effectively address the needs of the youth of |
| 19 |
| its community; some of the community services the organization |
| 20 |
| provides include the administration of legislative |
| 21 |
| scholarships for State Representative George Scully, |
| 22 |
| scholarship awards funded by Theta Mu Lambda Charitable |
| 23 |
| Foundation, the "Leaders of Tomorrow" mentorship program, and |
| 24 |
| Project Alpha leadership training, college tours, and many |
| 25 |
| other educational programs; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 27 |
| NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 28 |
| we congratulate the Theta Mu Lambda Charitable Foundation on |
| 29 |
| the occasion of its 17th Annual Black & Gold Ball on Saturday, |
| 30 |
| November 18, 2006, and we honor the organization for its many |
| 31 |
| contributions to the community; and be it further
