| WHEREAS, The Streamwood Park District was founded in 1966 |
| 3 |
| and celebrates its 40th anniversary this year; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, The mission of the Streamwood Park District is to |
| 5 |
| foster excellence in recreation opportunities through parks, |
| 6 |
| facilities, and museums that enhance the quality of life for |
| 7 |
| residents and guests of the district; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, It is the vision of the Streamwood Park District |
| 9 |
| to include collaborative approaches to the provision of |
| 10 |
| services with government, public, and private agencies;
|
| 11 |
| provide safe, wholesome, and well-maintained parks and |
| 12 |
| facilities;
provide diverse recreational opportunities that |
| 13 |
| reflect a commitment to inclusion;
provide cost-effective and |
| 14 |
| fiscally responsible management of agency resources;
be |
| 15 |
| proactive through careful planning and innovative approaches |
| 16 |
| to management and service provision, taking into consideration |
| 17 |
| public input;
provide courteous and knowledgeable services to |
| 18 |
| all patrons;
maintain a commitment to acquisition and |
| 19 |
| stewardship of community open space;
preserve and celebrate the |
| 20 |
| community's rich history and culture;
demonstrate a commitment |
| 21 |
| to professionalism among elected officials, paid staff, and |
| 22 |
| volunteers through recruitment, continuing education, and |
| 23 |
| recognition practices; and
be accurately perceived as the |
| 24 |
| primary provider of recreation, parks, and open space by all |
| 25 |
| segments of the community; and

| WHEREAS, The Streamwood Park District is a Distinguished |
| 27 |
| Agency Award Winner and 2003 Streamwood Chamber of Commerce |
| 28 |
| Business of the Year award recipient; and
|
| 29 |
| WHEREAS, The district will celebrate its 40th anniversary |
| 30 |
| on Saturday, May 20, 2006; therefore, be it
