HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Pretzel City USA was founded in 1998 with the express mission to support its city, Freeport; the organization was influential in the Freeport City Council's decision to adopt "Pretzel City U.S.A." as the city's official nickname; and

WHEREAS, Pretzel City USA capitalized on Freeport's rich history and relationship with the pretzel; it brought attention and pride to Freeport with its sponsorship of the Pretzel Festival, featured on the nationally and internationally watched Food Network; and

WHEREAS, Ken Bohnsack helped to institute Quarry Day, a unique family fun day, which helps young people become acquainted with heavy equipment and other construction processes and has always served as the major fundraiser for Pretzel City USA; and

WHEREAS, Pretzel City USA encourages reading in the lower grades; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bohnsack has worked tirelessly to support Quarry Day and Pretzel City USA; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Ken Bohnsack, the chairman and originator of Quarry Day, for his constant support and promotion of Freeport and Pretzel City USA; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Bohnsack as an expression of our esteem.
