HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois are pleased to recognize Larry Clarke for his
4 outstanding softball ability and his many years of
5 participation in A.S.A. slow-pitch softball; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Mr. Clarke lives in Taylor Ridge and has played
7 most of his career in the Quad Cities area; he has played for
8 the best teams in the Quad Cities, including Bringer Inn,
9 Epperly Insurance, Jim's Knoxville Tap, and Quad City
10 Laminating; and
 
11     WHEREAS, He started playing A.S.A. slow-pitch softball in
12 1965 with the Adams Tap Team; in 2005, he and his sons played
13 A.S.A. ball in the Rock Island League for Epperly Insurance and
14 Jim's Knoxville Tap and participated in the 2005 Class "C"
15 State Tournament; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He has played in mens A.S.A. slow-pitch state
17 tournaments for almost 48 years, ranging from "AA" to the "C"
18 division; he received Most Valuable Player honors in 2003 and
19 2005; he is a consummate hitter and was normally the lead-off
20 batter; rarely has he failed to hit lower than .658 and many
21 years he hit over .758; and
 
22     WHEREAS, In 1985, Larry moved from the mens "AA" open to
23 the A.S.A. "A" division; his Quad City Laminating team finished
24 second at state, and he made the all-state team and batted .700
25 for the year; his team also played in the Indiana regionals
26 from 1986 through 1998; and
 
27     WHEREAS, Mr. Clarke has played in the Quad Cities twelve
28 team 50+ slow-pitch league; in 1998, the City Limits team,
29 A.S.A., registered 50+, finished 23-3 in tournament play; he
30 hit over .630; in 2002, he played shortstop and his 55+ senior

1 team, The Rock Island Line, won the National Championship in
2 Dallas, Texas; he continues to play senior tournament softball
3 and league A.S.A. softball with his sons' team; therefore, be
4 it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7 we recognize Larry Clarke for his outstanding softball ability
8 and his many years of participation in A.S.A. slow-pitch
9 softball; and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That such longevity in a softball career is to be
11 commended; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to Mr. Clarke as an expression of our esteem.
