HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Public summer school programs ensure that children who need extra help so they may make adequate progress and keep from falling behind other students are able to receive the needed services; and

WHEREAS, Public summer school programs provide enriching educational opportunities for our children; and

WHEREAS, Public summer school programs help to ensure that our schools are able to meet the strict guidelines set by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001; and

WHEREAS, The need for public summer school program funding is great; providing funding will prevent our communities' schools from overextending their budgets as many will conduct summer school programs out of necessity before State funding is guaranteed; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we strongly encourage the General Assembly to fully fund public summer school programs for the summer of 2005.
