 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were  saddened  to learn of the death of Mildred P.
 4    Leefers of Carlinville on March 7, 2003; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mrs. Leefers was born on July 4, 1910 in  Brushy
 6    Mound  Township  to  Charles  H.  and  Emma Catherine Hammann
 7    Griffel; and

 8        WHEREAS, She married Edwin L. "Bud" Leefers  on  May  31,
 9    1941; and

10        WHEREAS,  Mrs. Leefers was a 1929 graduate of Carlinville
11    High School and was a farm wife and a homemaker; and

12        WHEREAS, Mrs. Leefers authored two books for  her  family
13    and friends, "Patchwork Memories" and "Reflections"; and

14        WHEREAS,  A  lifelong member of St. Paul United Church of
15    Christ and  Home  Extension  and  a  past  member  of  church
16    Afternoon  Guild, she taught Sunday school for over 40 years;
17    and

18        WHEREAS, Mrs. Leefers loved spending time with her family
19    and on Hilltop Farms; she was known  for  her  gardening  and
20    flowers; and

21        WHEREAS, The passing of Mildred P. Leffers will be deeply
22    felt  by  many,  especially  her  son,  Val  L.  Leefers; her
23    grandson, Von (wife, Linda) Leefers; her granddaughter,  Viki
24    Leefers; and her two great-grandsons; therefore, be it

25        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
26    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
27    Mildred P. Leefers along with all who knew and loved her  and
28    extend our sincere condolences to her family and friends; and
29    be it further

 1        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 2    presented to the  family  of  Mildred  P.  Leefers  with  our
 3    deepest sympathy.
