 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were  saddened  to  learn of the death of Mariam Y.
 4    Schmitt of Peoria on December 28, 2002; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mrs. Schmitt was  born  on  March  23,  1911  in
 6    Peoria to Andrew and Susan Baker Yates; she married George B.
 7    Schmitt on September 10, 1935; and

 8        WHEREAS,  Mrs.  Schmitt  was active in the Peoria Players
 9    and started St. Mark's Stunt Shows; she was a member  of  the
10    Catholic  Women's  League,  and  St. Vincent de Paul Catholic
11    Church; and

12        WHEREAS, Her passing will be deeply felt  by  her  family
13    and  friends,  especially her daughter, Sue (Jim) Haines; her
14    three grandchildren; and her three great-grandchildren; and

15        WHEREAS, Mrs.  Schmitt  was  preceded  in  death  by  her
16    husband, George; therefore, be it

17        RESOLVED,  BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
18    ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
19    Marian Y. Schmitt, along with all who knew and loved her, and
20    extend our sincere condolences to her family and friends; and
21    be it further

22        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
23    presented  to  the  family  of  Marian  Y.  Schmitt  with our
24    condolences.
