 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  are saddened at the tragic deaths of 21 people in a
 4    stampede at a Chicago nightclub on Monday, February 17, 2003;
 5    and

 6        WHEREAS, Damien Riley was a resident of  Senate  District
 7    39 and was a victim of this tragedy; and

 8        WHEREAS,  Damien  Riley from the west side of Chicago was
 9    24 years old; he was a mild-mannered jokester, who worked  in
10    his    grandmother's   cleaning   business,   loved   playing
11    basketball, and  was  the  proud  father  of  a  4  year  old
12    daughter; and

13        WHEREAS, The life of Damien Riley, and the twenty others,
14    who  died  in this tragic event will forever be remembered by
15    their families, friends, and loved ones; therefore, be it

16        RESOLVED, BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL
17    ASSEMBLY  OF  THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the tragic
18    passing of Damien Riley and so many young  people  and  offer
19    our  sincerest  condolences  to  their families, friends, and
20    loved ones; and be it further

21        RESOLVED, That suitable  copies  of  this  resolution  be
22    presented  to  the family of Damien Riley as an expression of
23    our sympathy for their loss and with the  sincere  hope  that
24    such a tragedy will never occur again.
