SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Roy L. Connor of Aurora on
4 July 10, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born January 7, 1917 in Aurora, the son of
6 Edward and Frances (Skinner) Connor; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Roy graduated from East Aurora High School and
8 attended the Chicago Art Academy and the American School of
9 Art; he served as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps during
10 World War II, and flew 50 missions over Germany and Italy in a
11 B-24 Bomber; an accomplished caricature artist, he sent home
12 drawings during the war to his lovely girlfriend, Bea, who
13 later became his wife of 64 years; upon his return to the
14 states, Roy was the art director at R.H. Donnelly & Co. prior
15 to starting his own commercial art studio known as Connor Sager
16 Advertising; and
 
17     WHEREAS, He was an avid fisherman, but his passion was
18 golf; he was a member of the Aurora Country Club, where he was
19 a "regular" on the golf course; and
 
20     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward
21 and Frances Connor; his sisters, Evelyn (Art) Welter, Marge
22 (Francis) Hilderbrand, and Lillian (Toby) Tobias; and his
23 brothers, William (Frieda) Connor and Norman (Mary) Connor; and
 
24     WHEREAS, The passing of Roy L. Connor will be felt by all
25 who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Beatrice Walt
26 Connor; his son, Gerald (Carla) Connor; his grandsons, Greg
27 (Sarah) Connor, Trevor Connor and Grant (Heather) Connor; his
28 great-grandchildren, Cam, Mac, Taya, and Caliya; and several
29 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3 Roy L. Connor and extend our sincerest condolences to his
4 family, friends, and community; and be it further
 
5     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to the family of Roy L. Connor as an expression of
7 our deepest sympathy.
