 1                          SENATE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members  of  the  Senate  of  the  State  of
 3    Illinois  were  saddened  to  learn  of  the death of Bernard
 4    Joseph Schroeder of Jerseyville  on  Saturday,  February  22,
 5    2003; and

 6        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Schroeder was born on August 10, 1916 near
 7    Carrollton to Henry G. and Mary  (Meyer)  Schroeder;  he  was
 8    their second child; and

 9        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Schroeder  valiantly  served  his  country
10    during  World  War II as Army Master Sergeant in the Aleutian
11    Islands; and

12        WHEREAS, Mr. Schroeder was active in community and  civic
13    organizations; he was a 4th Degree Knight and District Deputy
14    in  the Knights of Columbus as well as a member of the Moose,
15    the Elks, and the American Legion; he served  on  the  Jersey
16    Community  School  Board for several years and was a founding
17    member of the Westlake Country Club; and

18        WHEREAS,  Mr.   Schroeder   owned   and   operated   B.J.
19    Schroeder's  Appliance  and TV Store for 45 years; he will be
20    remembered as being devoted to his customers; and

21        WHEREAS, The passing of Mr.  Schroeder  has  been  deeply
22    felt  by all who knew him; he was the dearly loved husband of
23    Marcella (Tonsor) (the late Ernie Pohlman) and  of  the  late
24    Mary  Agnes (Carmody); father of Father James Schroeder, SCJ,
25    Cheryl Schroeder, Dr. Victoria Dawdy (Steven Bilsbury),  Jill
26    (Don)  Schmidt,  Jan  (the late Jay) Kammer, Kevin Schroeder,
27    and Kim (Rick) Davis; stepfather  of  John  (Sheri)  Pohlman,
28    Margaret  Pohlman,  Terri  (Jim)  Campbell,  and Kaye (Kevin)
29    Skibbe; grandfather of Abbie and Brian Schroeder,  Todd  Zinn
30    (Cheryl  Eluska),  Amber (Scott) Drancik, the late Adam Zinn,
31    Christine,  M'Aggie,  and  Matthew  Schmidt,  Ellen   Kammer,

 1    Charlie,  Katherine,  and  Mary  Claire  Davis,  Mary Kathryn
 2    Pohlman, the late Lauren Ramey, Joseph  and  Kelly  Campbell,
 3    and  Sam  and  Guss  Skibbe;  great-grandfather  of Danny and
 4    Morgan  Zinn  and  Max  Drancik;  brother  of  Mary  Margaret
 5    (Melvin) Becker and of Vince (Emily) Schroeder,  and  of  the
 6    late  Lawrence,  Ray,  and Marty Schroeder; brother-in-law of
 7    James (Doris) Carmody and Nellie (the late Marty)  Schroeder,
 8    Lucille  (the late Ted) Hamblen, the late Bob (Niece) Tonsor,
 9    Edie (Truman) Garland, Joe (Edie) Tonsor, and the late  Janet
10    (Jim   &  Sandy)  File;  and  son-in-law  of  Cecil  Groppel;
11    therefore, be it

12        RESOLVED, BY  THE  SENATE  OF  THE  NINETY-THIRD  GENERAL
13    ASSEMBLY  OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing
14    of  Bernard  Joseph  Schroeder  and  extend  to  his  family,
15    friends, and all who loved him, our deepest sympathy; and  be
16    it further

17        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
18    presented to the family of Bernard Schroeder as  a  token  of
19    our sincerest condolences.
