SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of Russell D. Smith of
4 Princeton, formerly of Ohio, Illinois, on Monday, August 23,
5 2004; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Mr. Smith was born on January 2, 1928 in Buda to
7 Earl and Gladys (Osborne) Smith; he married Catherine Joan
8 McManus on August 11, 1950 in Wyoming, Illinois; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He was a 1945 graduate of Toulon High School and
10 attended Iowa State University; he graduated from the
11 University of Illinois with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
12 degree; he practiced in the Ohio area and served as
13 superintendent for the Illinois Department of Agriculture,
14 meat and poultry inspection; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Mr. Smith valiantly served his country as a member
16 of the U.S. Navy and was a member of Princeton Moose Lodge 1339
17 and the Illinois Veterinary Association; and
 
18     WHEREAS, The passing of Mr. Smith has been deeply felt by
19 many, especially his wife, Catherine; his children, Mark Smith,
20 Cathy (Chuck) Lovgren, Mary (Rodney) Healey-Mills, Jim (Nancy)
21 Smith, Mike (Doris) Smith, Tim (Aggie) Smith, and Tom (Carol)
22 Smith; his brothers, Leon (Kaye) Smith and Dale (Esther) Smith;
23 his 13 grandchildren; and his nine great-grandchildren; he was
24 preceded in death by his parents and one son-in-law, Thomas
25 Healey; therefore, be it
 
26     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
27 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
28 Russell D. Smith, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his
29 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
30 further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Mr. Smith as an expression of our
3 sincerest condolences.
