SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Kevin T. Kendrigan of Arlington Heights on Monday, June 28, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Kendrigan was born on February 23, 1946, in Chicago, to Michael J. and Mary A. (nee Kelly) Kendrigan; he married Catherine A. Nemchock on September 12, 1970; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Kendrigan served as director of the Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA) from its inception in 1974 until his retirement in December of 2003; the NWSRA is a cooperative of 16 park districts and provides community access and leisure services for individuals experiencing a disabling condition; he was the president of the Special Leisure Services Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides additional resources to support the efforts of the NWSRA and the Area 18 Special Olympics program; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Kendrigan was a past president of the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the Illinois Special Olympics; he was a member of the Joint Legislative Committee of Illinois Association of Park Districts, a member of the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association, a former member of the National Recreation and Park Association, and an active member of the St. Viator Athletic Association; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Kevin Kendrigan has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Catherine A. (nee Nemchock); his children, Brendan and Caitlin; his siblings, Mary Lou (James Wagman) Kendrigan, Peggy (Willie Peterson) Kendrigan, Cathy (Peter Abbott) Kendrigan, Michael (Jackie) Kendrigan, and James Kendrigan; and his nieces, Leslie Kendrigan, Erin Kendrigan and Maura Riordan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Kevin T. Kendrigan, and we extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kevin T. Kendrigan as an expression of our deepest sympathy for their loss.
