SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of James Edward Jerger of
4 Decatur on June 17, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, James Edward Jerger was born in Washington,
6 Indiana on January 6, 1936, to Carl and Virginia (Rose) Jerger;
7 he grew up in Evansville, Indiana; he attended St. Edwards
8 University in Texas, graduated from Indiana University Dental
9 School, and completed his internship and residency at Riley
10 Children's Hospital in Indianapolis; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Dr. Jerger married Rita Harder on August 18, 1962;
12 he valiantly served his country in the U.S. Army; he was a
13 pediatric dentist in Decatur for 38 years; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Dr. Jerger was a very patriotic American; he was a
15 member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Decatur and St. John
16 the Evangelist Catholic Church in Naples, Florida; he was a
17 dedicated member of Sertoma for more than 30 years; he was past
18 president of South Side Country Club, Decatur Dental Society,
19 and Sertoma; he was a member of the American Pediatric Dental
20 Society, American Orthodontic Society, and numerous other
21 state and national dental societies; and
 
22     WHEREAS, He was a passionate fan of the Indiana Hoosiers
23 and the St. Louis Cardinals and Rams; he was an avid golfer and
24 jogger; his positive attitude in his fight against cancer and
25 his constant sense of humor were amazing and uplifting to his
26 family and friends; and
 
27     WHEREAS, The passing of James Edward Jerger has been deeply
28 felt by many, especially his wife, Rita; his daughter and her
29 husband, Katrina and Ed Busse, and their children, Ariana and
30 Keenan; his son, Derek Jerger; his son and his wife, Dr. Bret

1 and Tracey Jerger, and their children, Cailin and Ashton; his
2 son, Darin, and his children, Macy and Jax; his father, Carl
3 Jerger; and his sisters, Harriett Causey and Deb Schneider; and
 
4     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia,
5 and his sister, Karen; therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8 James Edward Jerger, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his
9 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10 further
 
11     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to the family of James Edward Jerger as an expression
13 of our sincere condolences.
