SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of George Caddell Bruce Jr. of Princeton on Saturday, June 5, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bruce was born on April 6, 1921, in Pontiac to George Caddell Sr. and Jane Ellen (Ricker) Bruce; he married Irma Kitterman on April 26, 1949, in Princeton; she preceded him in death on April 30, 1994; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bruce valiantly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army; he owned and operated Bruce Jewelers since 1946; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bruce was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Princeton, American Legion Post 125, Princeton Masonic Lodge A.F. and A.M. 587, Jewelers of America, Illinois Jewelers Association, and local antique automobile clubs; and

WHEREAS, The passing of George Caddell Bruce Jr. has been deeply felt by many, especially his sons, Gary (Diane) Bruce and Gail Bruce; and his grandchildren, Sarah Jane Bruce, Reid Bruce, and Mark Bruce; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of George Caddell Bruce Jr., and we extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of George Caddell Bruce Jr. as an expression of our sincere condolences.
