SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate were deeply
3 saddened to learn of the death of William H. "Bill" Hobbs on
4 May 24, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on July 16, 1917, in Franklin County,
6 the son of W.C. "Willie" and Allie (Beaty) Hobbs; on April 16,
7 1938, in Morganfield, Kentucky, he married Lillian Belle
8 (Collins); and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mr. Hobbs was the owner and operator of Hobbs &
10 Son John Deere in Benton for 23 years; and
 
11     WHEREAS, He was a member of the North Benton Baptist Church
12 since 1981, where he served as deacon; he, along with Mrs.
13 Hobbs, were active in the Joy group at the church; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was a former member of the Ag Advisory Board at
15 Rend Lake College; he had been a 4-H leader for several years;
16 he was a member of the Liars Club, the Franklin County Soil and
17 Water Conservation Board, the Mississippi Valley Farm
18 Equipment Dealers Association, and was a former school board
19 member of the Steel City School District; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The passing of William H. "Bill" Hobbs will be
21 deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Lillian Hobbs; his
22 son, Larry Hobbs and wife Nancy; his daughter, Kathy Shaw and
23 husband the Rev. Richard Shaw; his grandchildren, David Hobbs
24 and wife Amy, Danny Hobbs and wife Kara, Jeremy Shaw and wife
25 Jody, and Gretchen Vance and husband Dean; his
26 great-grandchildren, Daniel Hobbs, Will Hobbs, and Fiona Shaw;
27 and his sister, Lorene Page; and
 
28     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, W.C.
29 "Willie" and Allie (Beaty) Hobbs; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of
3 William H. "Bill" Hobbs along with all who knew and loved him
4 and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends;
5 and be it further
 
6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to the family of William H. "Bill" Hobbs as an
8 expression of our deepest sympathy.
