SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of George D. Hunter on August 9, 2002; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hunter was born on August 5, 1925, in Mound Bayou, Mississippi, to Isaiah Hunter and Mattie B. Morgan-Hunter; as a child, he was a member of Beautiful Star Missionary Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hunter valiantly served his country during World War II and the Korean War as a member of the United States Navy; he served his country for 9 years and received an honorable discharge in 1953; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hunter married Dorothy R. Brown on August 20, 1946; and

WHEREAS, The passing of George D. Hunter has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Dorothy; his son, Kevin Eugene Sr.; his grandchildren, Kevin Eugene Jr. and Kawana La-Shaye; his sisters, Orlinda Golliday and Netti Webb; his special nephews, Oscar Lee Gary and Robert Golliday; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the First Baptist Institutional Church family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of George D. Hunter, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of George D. Hunter as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
