SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of Virgil Anderson of Princeton on April 13, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson was born on September 17, 1915, in Wyanet to Frank O. and Jennie M. (Johnson) Anderson; he married Marie Pierson on November 19, 1966, in Princeton; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army for 22 months with the infantry in the Phillippines; he was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre, three battle stars, two arrow heads, the Phillippines Liberation Ribbon Purple Heart, and the American Defense and Good Conduct Medals; and

WHEREAS, He farmed for 39 years, retiring in 1984; he graduated from Wyanet High School in 1933; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson was a member of Princeton VFW Post 4323, the Farm Bureau, the Evangelical Covenant Church, and the church's Friendship Circle; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Virgil Anderson will be deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Marie Anderson; his daughters, Janet Frazee, Marilyn (Dell) Edeler , Phyllis (Joe) Sledgister, and Carolyn (Rollo) Saucier; his stepson, Gordon (Sue) Pierson; his stepdaughter, Sharry (Kent) Johnson; his brothers, Leland Anderson, Clifford (Lucille) Anderson, and Max (Joyce) Anderson; his sister, Camilla (Tom) Monier; his sisters-in-law, Lucille (Leslie) Anderson and Jane (Lloyd) Anderson; his 13 grandchildren; his great-grandchild; and his numerous nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Adelle (Monier) Anderson; his son, Stanley Anderson; two brothers, Leslie and Lloyd Anderson; his sister, Herma Anderson; and his son-in-law, Tom Frazee; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Virgil Anderson along with all who knew and loved him and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Virgil Anderson as a token of our deepest sympathy.
