SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois were saddened to learn of the death of L. Earl Youtzy of Aurora on March 2, 2004; and

WHEREAS, L. Earl Youtzy was born January 30, 1919 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the son of George A. and Stella (Quass) Youtzy; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Youtzy attended Iowa State University, Cornell College, and DePaul University; he spent 20 years in the dairy business with the Borden Company and Oatman Dairy of Aurora; he had been in the life insurance business since 1958; and

WHEREAS, He was past president of the Aurora Association of Life Underwriters, past president of the Illinois West Suburban CLU Chapter, a member of Fox Valley Estate Planning Council, and a member of the United Way of Aurora; he had also served the Salvation Army, Association for Individual Development, Aurora College, Wayside Cross Rescue Mission, Boy Scouts of America, and the Girl Scouts of America; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Youtzy received the Salvation Army "Others" award in 1978 and the Aurora Lions Club "Citizen of the Year" award in 1980; in 1984, he received from his peers, the Aurora Association of Life Underwriters "Salesman of Distinction" award; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Youtzy served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1946, where he attained the rank of Major; he was wounded in 1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart, as well as the Silver Star; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of American Legion Post 84 and was a long time member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora; and

WHEREAS, The passing of L. Earl Youtzy will be deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Jurene L. (Pollock) Youtzy; his daughter, Pamela A. (Dr. Russell) DeYoung; his son, Mark R. Youtzy; his grandchildren, Eric (Jamie) and Kathryn DeYoung; his two sisters, Helen (Woody) White and Leah (Nolan) Zugschwerdt; his brother, George (Frances) Youtzy; his relatives from his second marriage, Ginny Pollock (Joseph) Jackl and daughters, Jamie and Karlie, and son, Max; Joseph E. Marrello; granddaughter, Jennifer (Ron) Rogers; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Megan, and Ryan; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth "Jeane" Youtzy; and a stepdaughter, Barbara J. Marrello; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the death of L. Earl Youtzy along with all who knew and loved him and extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of L. Earl Youtzy as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
