SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Harold W. "Runt" Dodd of
4 Loami on Monday, March 8, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Harold W. Dodd was born on December 17, 1917 in
6 Chatham to Jess and Grace Workman Dodd; he married Harriet L.
7 Davis in 1941 in Little York; his wife and a son, Kurt,
8 preceded him in death; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mr. Dodd graduated from Springfield High School in
10 1935; he was a farmer and president of the Illinois Farmers
11 Union for 16 years from 1974 to 1990; he was a member of Loami
12 United Methodist Church, the Community Unit 16 school board for
13 13 years, the St. John's Hospital advisory board for 25 years,
14 the Central Illinois Senior Citizens Board for 6 years, and the
15 Masonic Lodge; while he was president of the Illinois Farmers
16 Union, he traveled to Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and China on behalf
17 of agricultural issues on the State and federal levels; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Mr. Dodd will be remembered as a man who had a way
19 of putting differences aside to get things accomplished; he was
20 a tireless worker and was a true leader in agriculture; and
 
21     WHEREAS, The passing of Harold Dodd has been deeply felt by
22 many, especially his son, Ken Dodd (companion, Lois Stone); his
23 grandson, Arman Dodd; his sisters, Florence Large and Goldia
24 Bumgardner; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
25     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
26 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
27 Harold W. Dodd, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his
28 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
29 further

1     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2 presented to the family of Harold W. Dodd as an expression of
3 our sincere condolences.
