3 were saddened to learn of the death of Noel Hoyt of Evanston on
4 February 29, 2004; and

5     WHEREAS, Nole Hoyt lived in Evanston since 1965; after
6 graduation from Marymount College in New York, she worked as an

9 to Tom Hoyt; and

10     WHEREAS, Mrs. Hoyt remained active in the family publishing
11 business as a proof reader and worked as a precinct captain
12 with the Democratic Party of Evanston for many years; through
13 the 60s and 70s she struggled with addiction to amphetamines
14 and alcohol; a personal triumph was that after entering
15 recovery in 1983, she remained sober for the rest of her life;
16 and

17     WHEREAS, Mrs. Hoyt was best loved for her adventurous and

19 Italian Villa by hiring a professional artist to paint all four
20 walls, the doors, and the ceiling in the "trompe l'oeil" style;
21 among her many adventures, Noel took her daughters hot-air
22 ballooning in the Loire Valley of France, and talked her way
23 into the college age work crew for a summer long architectural
24 dig at an Etruscan ruin in La Pieta, Italy; she performed as a
25 supernumerary in a recent performance of the Chicago Opera,
26 where her stage instructions included, "Swoosh in. Swoosh
27 out."; and

28     WHEREAS, Mrs. Hoyt loved architecture, and would brazenly
29 talk her way into off-limits architectural gems, from the
30 library at Trinity College in Dublin to Lincoln Park mansions
31 undergoing renovations; and

1     WHEREAS, To facilitate her adventures she printed phony
2 business cards for herself and friend Jess Cunniff, stating
3 that they were respectively the "President" and "Chairman" of
4 the "Urban Studies Institute"; with their card and the
5 statement, "We are architectural historians", Noel and Jess
6 breezed past security guards and workmen; and

7     WHEREAS, The passing of Noel Hoyt will be deeply felt by
8 many, especially her children, Joshua (Joanna Brown) Hoyt, Amy
9 (Jim) Knowlton, Darcy Hoyt, Peter (Peggy) Hoyt, Phoebe (Guido)
