SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Henry David W. Thompson of
4 Danville on Wednesday, January 14, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Thompson was born on August 30, 1919, in
6 Danville, to Henry C. and Lorene Gillock Thompson; he married
7 Billie Jean Nelson in Paris; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Mr. Thompson, affectionately called "Hank", was a
9 quiet, humble man and a devoted husband and father; he was
10 known to say that his children "were the core of his being";
11 his love for family extended beyond the immediate household;
12 countless times, he offered his help to other family members
13 through word and deed; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Mr. Thompson was an avid sports fan, particularly
15 of baseball, and he enjoyed gardening; he was a graduate of
16 Danville High School and retired as a maintenance technician
17 from Lauhoff Grain Company; he was a life member of Allen
18 Chapel A.M.E. Church, where he was a member of the Men's Chorus
19 and served on various boards; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The passing of Henry David W. Thompson has been
21 deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Billie Jean; his
22 daughters, Debra (Wallace) Wiley, Lori Thompson, and Brigitte
23 Thompson; his son, Victor (Eugenia) Thompson; his
24 grandchildren, Tyronne, Melanie, and Antonio Wiley, Alicia
25 (Monte) Grison, Victor II, Ryan, and Jason Thompson; his
26 great-grandchildren, Devin and Allison; his brothers, Robert
27 (Bernica) Thompson and Eugene (Loretta) Thompson; and his many
28 nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends; therefore, be
29 it
 
30     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL

1 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2 Henry David W. Thompson, and we extend our sincere condolences
3 to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
4 it further
 
5     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to the family of Henry David W. Thompson as an
7 expression of our deepest sympathy.
